Dr. Edward Back is professor and head of the department of civil, construction and environmental engineering. While at UA, he has also served as the director of the Research Center for Sustainable Infrastructure within the college. Back has extensive experience in the field of infrastructure engineering. He has taught engineering best practices for organizations throughout the United States, Europe, Asia and Africa. Additionally, he served as an advisor for multiple large engineering projects constructed throughout the world. During his time at UA, Back has been the recipient of eight University teaching awards including the Outstanding Commitment to Teaching Award and the College of Engineering’s Hackney Leadership Award.
